An individual seized the weapon of a sentry soldier at Orly Airport, France, and took him hostage and eventually was shot dead by the men of the sentinel operation. The south terminal was totally evacuated in a movement of great panic. All flights were interrupted. Scientific police and the raid were cleared on site while the passengers in care were taken to nearby hotels where meals were served. During the shooting some passengers managed to hide. They were taken in charge by the gendarmerie, survival blankets were given to them and a psychological cell remained at their disposal.
